Dr. Khapra earned her undergraduate degree in biology from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society. She remained at Hopkins to earn a Doctor of Medicine degree.
She completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina and a residency in Internal Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Cornell Weill Medical Center.
Dr. Khapra moved to Mount Sinai Medical Center of New York to complete her gastroenterology fellowship, where she served as the Chief Gastroenterology Fellow. A native of the metro Washington, D.C. area, Dr. Khapra returned to the area in 2007 and joined Gastroenterology Associates of Northern Virginia.
Dr. Khapra is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. She is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterology Association, the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation and the Medical Society of Virginia.
As an author of the AGA GastroSlides Project for Digestive Health and Disease in Women, Dr. Khapra has given presentations at national medical meetings and published several research articles. She currently serves as a clinical trials sub-investigator at GANV.
